Information Specific For Gatsby/Imperial Spas:

Gatsby Spas made several generation and configurations. We can help you with the following:

Generation "A". Topside Control with

If you have a Gatsby spa built prior to 1999, you probably have a dial temperature control (Generation A) and manual push buttons on the topside. Generation A involved 2 basic designs.

You either have an equipment area with the heater attached like: (example 1)

OR

Your heater is a separate canister connected by a heavy cord like: (example 2)

  Generation "B". Topside Control with

Gatsby/Imperial Spas moved to the next generation on control systems in 1999; completely electronic. They phased out and discontinued stock of the older control system.  There is no longer OEM parts for the older systems. To repair any control box requires replacing the complete control system with a current electronic generation system.

IF you have a failure of the Generation "B", you have to decide what to do. You have two choices. The simplest is to install the same system Gatsby/Imperial you have. >> See Here  You can buy the complete control box you have and install. Done.

OR

We are happy to offer several retrokit control boxes and topsides that will allow you to continue to use your existing pump(s),  canister heater (if you have one), and ozonator. At a Great Price.

The Generation "B" had both a Canister Heater and small 24hr circulation pump (most common)

OR

Large 2 speed jet pump that only comes on to heat or filter and a horizontal heater

With these systems, you install a new electronic system to control your pumps, light, blower, etc. Retro kits provide you with the topside, control system, heater (when applicable), and cords (see individual descriptions). With any system we offer, you will gain current technology plus a digital topside to set the spa exactly where you want the temperature to be.

Warning: Although these systems are designed well, not everyone is qualified to install. You have to be able to first install the control box, configure the control box, wire equipment to it (unless you are replacing a matching system), and connect or modify your incoming power. If you doubt your ability, it would be wise to consider purchasing the control box and have a local service company install for you.

Also note, NONE of these systems come with a GFCI built in so whichever system you chose, you will need a GFCI protected power source. For spas operating on 230vac, you will need the standard 4 Wire circuit. All 220-240vac systems shown are 4 wire circuits.

How We Can Help
If you can supply us with digital pictures, we will review what you will have and what you would have to do to
your spa to make it ready to retro-fit. For some models you will have to remove
some parts and redirect some plumbing. This is where we can help... and it's free.
We can explain what you need to do and how intensive it will be. Even before you decide to do it.
The biggest change on some units is that you will have to add a 50a, 240vac GFCI to protect
users. GFCI means ground fault circuit interrupt. It is mandatory for safety and
code reasons. These can be purchased at hardware stores or installed by a
licensed electrician. If your spa is already running on 220-240vac, likely you do have such
a protection on your existing electrical line already
installed. Replacement of this retro-fit into existing electronic systems usually does
not require much change.
Send your photos to bbouman@clearcreekspas.com so we can help. We can
walk you through what you need to do... and it's free.

*Caution must be taken about matching pumps/blower/ozonators/circ pumps with your existing system. For example, both systems require the #1 pump to be 2 speed; either 110v or 220v. On few models you will have to convert the #1 single speed pump to a 2 speed pump; either 110v or 220v. You will have to match the ozonator voltage to equal the #1 pump you use, either 110v or 220v. Please contact Bruce at bbouman@clearcreekspas.com to confirm you are ordering the right system and any cautions you need to be aware of. As in any change of systems, extreme care must be taken to install correctly. Mis-wiring can damage and void the control box's warranty.
